I didn't expect Kendrick Lamar's half-time show to entertain me. I don't know his music. I didn't even know until today that he has earned a Pulitzer Prize for his work or that he has 22 Grammys and 5 pieces listed in The Rolling Stones Top 500 of all time.
I did realize that something significant was happening on the Superdome stage last night. And I honestly tried to keep up. But between needing the closed captioning to absorb the lyrics and wanting to see all that happening on stage, (choreography, lights, symbolism, backdrops) I missed a lot. I've spent this morning trying to become educated and still aware that I'm missing a lot. There are many posts on this platform and others, that have helped fill in the blanks and remind me the backstory. For that, I am grateful.
Please don't say that it was terrible--awful--the worst you've ever seen. I think its impact will continue to spread longer than the length of a Super Bowl half-time show and I'm going to try to keep up.
